IN-FORM York RUFC will be looking to stay with the Yorkshire One pacesetters when they travel to Heath tomorrow (3pm).

The Clifton Parkers have won their opening two games, against Malton & Norton and Sheffield, to sit alongside Bradford Salem, Castleford and Wheatley Hills at the top of the table.

Club spokesman James Geldart said: “We had some good spells against Sheffield, so we want to build on that.

“Our backline is going to be an asset for us this season and we are looking to play a very quick game.”

With that in mind, York have made one change to their line-up.

Jim Rossington comes into the second row in place of Brad MacDonald, who drops to the bench, with the coaching team hoping to increase the mobility of the pack.

Selby will ring the changes at home to Skipton tomorrow after a disappointing start to their Yorkshire One campaign.

The Sandhill Lane men have lost their opening two fixtures to Yarnbury (26-21) and Heath (20-12) and Wright Phillips and Ollie Saunders have paid the price by being relegated to the second string.

Mark Tanner and Jason Cicero will also move to the bench, while Martin Protheroe makes his first start following his return from Wharfedale, as does Jim Nicholson after living in Australia for the past six years.

Having fulfilled his cricket commitments with Burn, Matt Smith earns a recall and Mark Toye will be promoted to the second row with Andrew Pocklington fit again in the front row.

Andy Bennett and Andy Tunningley, meanwhile, will retain their places in the starting line-up.

Malton & Norton are also chasing their first win of the season after losing to York and Castleford. Dinnington, who have won one and lost one of their opening two games, are the visitors to The Gannock tomorrow.

In Yorkshire Two, Pocklington will entertain old rivals Ripon at Percy Road.

Skipper John Paul Kelly is missing as he will be taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for Leeds General Infirmary’s children’s heart fund.

Young prop Charlie Cassam will replace him while, in the backs, Pock will include Steve Moore, born on Teesside, raised in South Africa and now living in Market Weighton.

Moore gets the call-up after a couple of promising performances with the Panthers.

Also joining the backs is Joe Holbrough after his return from holiday, allowing brother Jack to revert to the pack.

There is no fixtures in Yorkshire Four for York RI.
