NESTLE Rowntree RUFC capped their Yorkshire Northern Merit League title success by thrashing Pontefract 3rds 55-0 in their last match of a very good season.
Trees started with gusto and, after a good drive, hooker Ryan Roodt, standing in for the unavailable Jack Gabbatiss, ran in under the posts for a try converted by Jack Daniels.
Then strong running from powerhouse centre Dave Straker saw him score two quick tries both converted by Daniels.
Trees seemed to try too hard and conceded several penalties as they sought to put further pressure on, but, on half-time they scored again through Roodt backing up another break, Daniels converting.
Nestle kicked a penalty after the break and then notched by a quick unconverted try as scrum-half Roman Cames pounced on a loose ball from a lineout.
After Trees brought on their six substitutes, they seemed to lose the plot and had to defend for a long time before a late surge saw them score three tries through number eight Eliott Morgan (2) and centre Fatayi Okotete, Daniels converting two of them.
