FOR only the fourth time since the Second World War, the 1st XV rugby team at York's St Peter’s School has gone a whole season undefeated and are ranked fourth in the country.
The national Daily Mail Trophy League takes in results from every school team in the country and St Peter’s secured their impressive position with victory over Pocklington in the final game of the season.
Their campaign had started impressively with seven wins from seven before the end of November.
The steely defence and clinical attacking which characterised those early displays continued with memorable victories over teams including RGS Newcastle, Barnard Castle and Bradford Grammar.
Steve Williams, Director of Sport at St Peter’s, said: “To go a whole season unbeaten is a rare and remarkable achievement and the boys have done the School proud. The resilience and teamwork they hae demonstrated throughout the season has been incredible, and they fully deserve this terrific success.”
