YORK RI RUFC enjoyed their biggest win of the Yorkshire Four season when hammering lowly Hornsea 73-3.
Winger Andy Brentnall led the way with five touchdowns in an 11-try romp to bag the man-of-the-match accolade.
He opened the scoring inside four minutes on the back of a fantastic Chris Jones break, with Baptiste Brui kicking the first of his nine conversions.
Then on 11 minutes, Brentnall raced 60 metres down the wing for his second try.
Hornsea, not wanting to be nilled, kicked a superb long-range penalty to get on the scoreboard. But RI soon increased their lead as Lee O’Brien sidestepped two defenders.
Brentnall’s hat-trick try sealed the winning bonus point after only 20 minutes and, before the break, newcomer Chris Whitley finished off a powerful RI forward drive for a 33-3 lead.
Tom Greaves was next to cross, Brentnall added his fourth and then Tim Lewis joined the party, scoring after one of his many probing runs.
Tom Armes scored a well-taken try and, out of the blue, player-coach Dan Coates made a 50-metre break to have a clear run under the posts. To finish off a fantastic day, the last word fittingly went to Brentnall.
