YORK Railway Institute moved up to seventh in Yorkshire Four after winning a titanic struggle with fifth placed Hessle at New Lane.

The lead changed hands four times during the afternoon before RI celebrated a 22-19 victory and a bonus point.

Man of the match Alex DeLay opened the scoring after a 30 metre drive just before the break.

Hessle took the lead with a converted try only for RI to strike back immediately with another massive drive this time finished by Darren Lonsdale.

Francky Rossi powered his way through several Hessle defenders to score after the interval but the visitors hit back again with a converted try.

Chris Jones put in a superb chip kick for Matty Weingarth to chase and score in the corner as RI regained the lead.

But the visitors would not lie down and scored an unconverted try.

At the death, Hessle spurned a penalty opportunity and went, instead, for a power play win only for tremendous defence from RI to keep them out.
