YORK RI of Yorkshire Four step into the spotlight tomorrow as they are one of the few rugby union teams from the area in action this weekend.

Ninth-placed York face a testing trip to league leaders Halifax Vandals. It is a tough ask for the Railwaymen who lost to second-placed Hessle in their most recent fixture.

With the Six Nations matches to the fore, most local clubs have taken the option of a fixture-free Saturday and an opportunity to rest ahead of the final run-in.

Malton & Norton remain top of Yorkshire One, although for how long remains to be seen.

They are without a fixture tomorrow and can only wait to see if their title challengers Bradford and Bingley can deliver a win from their trip to Heath, which will send them back to the top of the table.

When Malton return to action they face a tough test in the form of an intriguing home derby against third-placed Bridlington.

They cannot take anything for granted and had to dig deep to overcome bottom club West Park Leeds 30-23 on their last outing as they extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Also in Yorkshire One, York's 13-5 derby success at Scarborough last Saturday saw them leapfrog their opponents to earn a top-five place. They too are without a fixture tomorrow.

Selby are one of three teams battling to stave off relegation from the division when they return to action next week.

They have 20 points and are above bottom club West Park Leeds on points difference. Both are one point behind Old Crossleyans, so every point from their six remaining matches will be significant.

Scarborough, who are sixth in Yorkshire One, are also without a match tomorrow.

Pocklington are sixth in North One East after a setback at Alnwick last Saturday. They head up the A1 again when they return to action next weekend to face Morpeth.
