YORK Acorn ARLC ‘A’ progressed to the first round proper of the Yorkshire Men’s League tier four cup competition after defeating Hull Dockers ‘A’ 32-20 in a preliminary round contest.
In an open game played in a good spirit, Acorn’s try scorers were Steve Doswell (2), Fran Starkey, Damien Hilton, Karl Harton and Paul Cross.
James Cooper kicked three goals and Joe Burns one.
For Dockers, Jack Hazelwood, Chris King, Stuart Page and Ronnie Mills got the tries, with Jamie Mulligan kicking two goals. Page took the man of the match award for Dockers, with Hilton picking up the accolade for hosts Acorn, while he was well supported by Carl Loft and Ben Fairburn.
York Lokos bowed out of the cup after a 50-18 defeat at Milford Marlins ‘A’ in the preliminary round.
