Double-chasing Selby Warriors ARLC host old rivals Lttleborough In Pennine League division three (2.30pm) boosted by last week’s magnificent 30-28 win at Thornhill ‘A’ in the quarter-finals of the Andy Bennett Memorial Trophy.

Thornhill are a physical side and some tackles are borderline but Selby, third in the table, one place above the Trojans, soaked up all they threw at them – and took the penalties and ultimately the game.

The end scoreline did not do Selby justice as two late tries for Thornhill made it look closer.

Scott Pearson was awesome and set up Selby’s first try for Russ Anderson. Ben Pearson scored a great solo try and bagged a second following a penalty, and further tries came from captain Wayne Fennell, winger David Makin, set up by Fennell, and Ryan Eades, beating two men from a scrum. Gavyn Lightowler added three goals.

The Warriors go to Woodhouse in the semi-finals on April 16.

Selby ‘A’ have no game this week.
