New Earswick All Blacks ARLFC’s bid for Pennine League President’s Cup conquest suffered a tumble when they lost 32-10 to Keighley Albion in the quarter-finals.

All Blacks took an early lead with centre Joe Stearman breaking the line to score an unconverted try.

Keighley gained the lead with a converted try and extended that advantage with another converted try.

Keighley added a penalty goal on the stroke of half-time to lead 14-4.

Three unconverted tries in the first ten minutes of the second half by the hosts effectively sealed the game.

All Blacks narrowed the gap with substitute prop Brian Wright powering through the line to score. Scrum-half Max Brachen converted.

But Keighley sealed victory with two tries in the final ten minutes.

Man-of the-match for the All Blacks was hooker Jack Carling with strong performances from loose forward Bobby Quigley and substitute forward Joe Hemmings.

More woe was suffered as New Earswick ‘A’ were soundly beaten 60-16 at Pennine League division four leaders Oulton ‘B’.

The visitors fielded a scratch side as a number of ‘A’ team players were called up to the first team.

Luke Campbell scored his first All Blacks try, underlining the promise, while Robbie Beavers and Tom Sunman claimed the other two tries, with Carl Fernandez adding two goals.

Mark Bouitout was the man of the match.

Former York City Knights winger Lee Mapals ensured Heworth ARLC ‘A’ team just failed to upset the odds against high-flying Methley Royals in Yorkshire League division three.

A weakened Villagers gave their all but a late rally saw the Royals win 40-32 with a third try by Mapals, who has returned to the game.

Heworth trailed 8-0 but then led 20-12 at the break with tries from Tom Hirst, Andy Cooper, Sean Brough and Sam Johnson, plus two conversions by Gary Watkinson.

Methley stepped up their game against a tiring defence and a brace of converted tries sealed the win.

Brough and Johnson added second-half tries and Watkinson another goal for the hosts.

Brough was Heworth’s star man with good efforts from Jake Mawer and Johnson plus a cameo performance from Chris Hammerton.

Selby Warriors booked their place in the semi-finals of the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy with a 30-28 victory at Thornhill Trojans.

The Warriors slipped to third in division three due to their cup involvement, but they are only two points off top spot with four games in hand.

Selby ‘A’ did not have a game in Pennine League division seven.

In division two of the CMS Yorkshire League, Heworth went down 40-32 at home to third-placed Methley Royals.

Northallerton Stallions were 60-0 victors over basement side Harehills.

The Stallions led 34-0 at half-time with tries by Jimmy Tuisavivi (3), Steve Naylor, Lee Worsnop and Tikomai Delana, plus five Scott Rothery conversions, Tries by Jonny Groundwater, Tikomai Delana, Phillip Buatatava, Rothery and Sefani Tamani, plus three Rothery conversions, completed the rout.
