Leaders New Earswick All Blacks have a top-of-the-table clash at second-placed Kippax Welfare in Pennine League division one east.

Kippax are two points behind but with a game in hand as teams vie for position before the top four in both the east and west divisions come together in one league to push for promotion to the premier tier or take a place in the new championship division next season.

Club spokesman Phil Pallister said: “Any of the top four could finish top. It is very tight. However, we will concentrate on our performances and not worry about what other teams are doing.

“We know we will carry points over to the second stage of the season when the top four of the east and west divisions come together so that adds extra incentive to the players on Saturday.”

All Blacks won 22-10 when the sides met in October.

Coach Simon Baynes said: “I want my players to carry on at the level of play we put in the second half of last week’s win (52-14 over Dearne Valley).”

Baynes could name a near unchanged side, with wingman Joe Stearman available.

Relegation-threatened New Earswick ‘A’ host Siddal ‘B’ in division four and will be hoping to put a full team out after travelling with only 13 players for last week’s loss at Ovenden ‘A’.

Sam Colley and Danny Battle have made themselves available.

Promotion-seeking Selby Warriors have the nearest they will get to a league derby in division three when Sharlston Rovers ‘A’ visit Foxhill Lane (2.30pm).

Selby ‘A’ go to South Bradford in division seven, ahead of a run of four home games on the bounce.
