New Earswick All Blacks ‘A’ suffered semi-final heartache for the third successive year as they bowed out of the Pennine Supplementary Cup.

All Blacks lost 27-20 at Woodhouse Warriors after a gripping encounter.

The visitors took the lead with a try by second-row Elliot Bridges and wing Dean Layton converted.

A penalty goal by Layton extended the lead to eight points, but Woodhouse hit back to lead 10-8 at the break and All Blacks full-back Declan Malarkey was taken to hospital with back and shoulder damage.

New Earswick led by six points midway through the second half after converted tries by centre Ian Henderson and player-coach Dave Carling, but the Warriors came back to win the tie.

The All Blacks man of the match was second-row Elliot Bridges, while there were strong performances from prop Sam Waite and loose- forward Michael Wall.

Selby Warriors were edged out 17-16 at Dodworth in the last four of the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy.
