HEWORTH ARLC Under-18s suffered a 30-0 defeat in a bad-tempered encounter at Farnley.

The Villagers stood up to an over-the-top barrage in a game that featured three red cards and a sin-binning.

Heworth were dealt two huge blows when they lost two ever-present and consistent performers in scrum-half Craig Richardson, with a broken collar bone, and full-back Dan Craig, with a torn hamstring.

The home side took advantage with a converted try and they were back on the attack when Heworth booted the kick-off out on the full.

Only strong tackling from Heworth kept them out on that occasion, but Farnley soon pounced on a loose ball to to race away for an unconverted score.

Heworth responded by building pressure on the Farnley line, but they were unable to break through.

After a series of high shots, the game erupted into a mass brawl. Stand-off Liam Ryan received a red card and Dan Atkinson was sin-binned, while there was also a red card for the Farnley winger. The Farnley hooker was sent off for a headbutt on Heworth new boy Chris Chaplin, but the hosts scored at regular intervals during the second half. Heworth were well served by man of the match Callum Prenty, supported by captain Josh Bolam, prop Dan Ward and Chaplin.
