JACK STEARMAN is confident his New Earswick All Blacks ARLC side can end their away-day hoodoo on Saturday after they returned to winning ways - even if they didn’t return to top form.
All Blacks beat St Joseph’s 28-10 last Saturday to stay second in Pennine League championship one.
They are back on the road this Saturday as they visit Odsal Sedbergh (2.30pm) and, given the Bradford side prop up the table with only one win in ten outings, Stearman is hopeful they are there for the taking.
“We’re confident we can win any game, but it is important we start winning away,” he said.
“We’ve got seven games left, four of them on the road. We’re disappointed to have won only one away from home so far but we’re looking to finish second so we have to start picking up points away from home.
“We were okay last week but could be better and hopefully this weekend we will be.”
Rhys Blake is doubtful with a knee injury but prop Jamie Norris is back available.
Meanwhile, division four neighbours Selby Warriors and Sherburn Bears continue their quest for the Pennine League’s Supplementary Cup with fourth-round ties.
The latter will need to turn the tables in startling fashion to go through, though, as they face a tough tie at Crofton Cougars, who beat them 30-0 in the league just last weekend to maintain their 100 per cent record.
Selby, on the hand, will be big favourites to progress as they host division six strugglers Beeston Broncos.
