York Ladies Amateur Rugby League Club have blasted into their fourth consecutive WRLA Challenge Cup Plate Final after a 22-6 semi-final conquest of Huddersfield Ladies.
York took the lead after eight minutes with second rower Chelsea Moore powering over for an unconverted try.
Huddersfield countered to go in front with a converted try but York responded when Moore crossed for her second try to give York an 8-6 half-time advantage.
York extended their lead early in the second half when quick ball down the line saw winger Ashleigh Hyde finishing in the corner.
The deficit was widened when centre Hayley Gover surged over for an unconverted try.
Their place in the final was sealed when substitute Sam Boyes weaved her way over. She added the conversion herself.
York’s player of the match was stand-off Mary Tiplady, backed up well by second rower Hayley Wallis, winger Fran Arron and half-back Katie Langan.
Said coach Andy Fletcher: “We defended really well as a unit, as we have done for the majority of the season.
“Our attacking play let us down at times and we were sloppy in parts.
“Hopefully, we can rectify that for the remaining games of the season and for the final.”
The Plate showdown is against Bradford Thunderbirds over the Easter weekend, though date and venue has yet to be confirmed.
