New Earswick Swimming Club’s ‘B’ team claimed the Ridings League division two title after a final gala success at Driffield.

Their last-gasp victory saw them edge out Driffield Swimming Club, who had held a one-point lead going into the closing event.

The 30 strong team, aged between nine and 19, came out on top against the hosts, Pocklington and Scarborough Kingfishers.

The girls’ ten and under medley team of Milly Ratcliffe, Chloe Rishworth, Christina Moore and Amber Simpson secured the first win.

Success for the boys’ and girls’ 14 and under, boys’ open and girls open teams put them into an 11-point lead.

There were also individual wins for Christina Moore (ten yrs freestyle), Liam Powell (12 years breaststroke), Harrison Rishworth (14 yrs butterfly) and Anna Chaplin (14 yrs butterfly).

The open girls’ freestyle saw a win for Molly Eaton, followed by wins for Christina Moore (ten yrs butterfly), Ellie Griffin (14 yrs freestyle), James Fligg (open breaststroke) and Steph Woodford (14 yrs breaststroke).

New Earswick also won the girls’ 14 and under freestyle relay and the open boys’ freestyle team event.
