TADCASTER Swim Squad records tumbled at the North Eastern Age Group Swimming Championships in Leeds and Sheffield.

The championships were split over two weekends at two venues, the Leeds Aquatic Centre and Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

In Leeds, 12-year-old Harry Souter, from Barwick-in-Elmet, clocked a personal best time and a new long course squad record for a Tadcaster swimmer in the 100 metres backstroke in claiming 19th position.

At Ponds Forge, 11-year-old Alex Williams, from Boston Spa, and 13-year-old Tom Carswell, from Tadcaster, both competed in the 100m freestyle.

The pair claimed personal best times and improved the Tadcaster records in their respective age groups, with Williams finishing 19th overall and Carswell 15th.

Souter swam just outside his personal best in finishing 17th in the 200m backstroke.

Williams also competed in the 100m butterfly, swimming just outside his personal best and finished 16th.
