RISING athletics ace Josh Schofield has been added to Huntington School’s sporting wall of fame.
The Year 11 student, a member of City of York Athletic Club, has had his England Athletics vest unveiled on the York school’s sporting wall of fame.
Schofield wore the international vest when representing England in a Schools’ International Cross Country Match in Perth, Scotland, in 2012, running against athletes from Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
The teenager has been a member of the school athletics team from Year 7 to Year 11 and his record has been applauded by Nigel Currie, Huntington’s head of physical education.
“He is a London Mini Marathon winner, two times Junior Great North Run winner, seven times County Schools medallist and four times Yorkshire champion,” said Currie.
“During his time at Huntington School he has made the English Schools’ athletics finals twice. Joshua has also recently been verified as a World School Biathlon record holder and has broken the four-minute barrier for 1,500 metres.”
