NORTH Yorkshire showjumper Alex Gill has won the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at South View Competition and Training Centre in Cheshire.
The 16-year-old, of Northallerton, won on seven- year-old grey gelding Kingstown Rebel.
Up for grabs were two sought after direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show.
From the 74 starters, 11 went on to contest the final jump-off, in which three combinations produced a treble clear.
With just the two Horse of the Year Show places available, the results from the jump-off meant the clock was crucial in deciding the final order.
Gill and Kingstown Rebel were second to go in the jump-off and a treble clear in 36.50 seconds ensured that they could not be beaten.
