NORTH Yorkshire teenager James Lofthouse will be competing against the best from around the country after being chosen to represent the county at table tennis.
The 18-year-old, a student at Rossett School, in Harrogate, only started playing table tennis at the age of 15, but quickly caught the bug and is now making waves across the county.
He won the North Yorkshire Under-19 Championships last month, a feat which earned him a place at the National Table Tennis Individual Championships in Doncaster in April.
Lofthouse said: “I’m really proud to have reached the national championships and I can’t wait to represent the county. It’s a huge honour.
“It will be a huge occasion, with many of England’s best U19s playing. It’s a massive opportunity for me to experience playing against the best.”
