A TEENAGE Tadcaster motorcross champion believes the sky is the limit in 2014 after “exceeding all expectations” in 2013.

Brad Vicars, 17, picked up 27 first-place trophies last year, winning five championships in the process, and is looking to carry that confidence through to the new season, which kicks off next weekend.

The Askham Bryan motorsport student, whose participation in the 2014 Thundersport GB Supertwin series will see him regularly feature on Motors TV, is optimistic for the future.

“I have had a great year and exceeded all my expectations, with a lot of good results,” said Vicars.

“I said last season that I’d have been happy with one championship win and I ended up with five.

“My goal this time is just to win as many races as I can and maybe improve on last year’s tally.”

Vicars races on a Suzuki 650 bike designed by his father, Neil, in a team named after Brad and his siblings Amy and Jake – AJB Racing.

The tight-knit family are right behind the 17-year-old as he looks to build on the success he has enjoyed so far in his fledgling racing career.

Said Vicars: “I don’t think I could do it without my family and their support, but of course my mum worries about me.

“They know that my aim is always to be getting to the top and winning championships.”
