There was another stunning treasure trove of wins for York City Rowing Club at the Tees Long Distance Sculls and Small Boats Head.

The event took place in remarkably benign conditions, as opposed to the previous year in choppy water, at Stockton-on-Tees.

Those collecting trophies for the morning Long Distance Sculls events were: Masters D 2x (coxed by Clark), W Masters C1x (Homa), WJ15 1x (Downing), J16 1x (Press), J16 4x- (Whitehall), WJ16 4x- (Howe), J18 2x (Otter); while those picking up tankards for the afternoon’s Small Boats Head disciplines were: Masters C 2x (Press), IM3 4x- (Press), J14A 4x+ (Press), WJ15A 4x+ (Downing), J18A 1x Bruce, J18A 4x- (Otter), WJ18A 4x- (Howe), Nov 1x (Schofield), Nov 2x (Howe).

The J18 coxless quad stroked by Dan Otter also won the Small Boats Head pennant for being the fastest junior men’s crew as well as boasting the distinction of being the second fastest crew in the entire event.

The junior women’s quad stroked by Olivia Howe were equally impressive, picking up the Small Boats Head pennant in the afternoon for the fastest junior women’s crew.

They were also the fastest women’s crew in the morning Long Distance Sculls – an excellent result as the crew are all a mere 15 years of age.

Andrew Cawood, chairman of Yorkshire Rowing, said that the results from Tees demonstrated the strength in depth of York City Rowing Club, and particularly how talented the club’s junior section is.
