HEWORTH ALRC Under-10s finished for the summer break with an excellent display against Methley.

The Villagers started strongly and were rewarded for their early efforts when Theo Walton crossed in the corner, Tyler Monks converting and then crossing the whitewash himself en route to earning the most improved player award.

Methley hit back either side of half-time but strong running man of the match Eden Martin, well supported by Tom Clarke, laid the platform for Heworth to win it with a try from Alex Prenty which he converted himself.

Adam Hodgson crossed for four tries before half-time as Heworth U8s, desperate to finish the term on a high, beat Newsome Panthers.

Heworth opened the scoring in the first minute as Harrison Barker bagged the first of his three tries.

From then on, good defence by Kenzie Witty, most improved player Dan Clarke, coaches’ man of the match Harvey Monks and top tackler Barker set the platform for victory and Hodgson’s quartet.

The second half saw Callum Costanzo score twice and Ellis Cochrane, the opposition’s choice of man of the match, also cross before Newsome notched two late consolation tries.

Newcomer Harley Nicholson, who stepped up from the U7s also shone, as the result brought to an end a successful first term for the team.

Ever-improving Heworth U7s produced another great display at Thornhill Trojans with all the players contributing well.

Certificates were awarded to Harley Nicholson, Ben Blackburn and Theo Edson for their efforts.
