HEWORTH ARLC Under-9s proved too strong for hosts Sherburn Bears.

The Villagers scored five unanswered tries, despite despite a spirited performance by the Bears.

The magic moment award went to Lucas Burden - who was also joint top tackler - after a great run and offload which saw Kian Ogilvie race away to score.

Oliver Pratt once again put in an eye-catching performance, which saw him gain the parents’ and opposition man of the match to go along with the joint top tackler accolade and a brace of tries.

Sam Hunt scored great try after a jinking run following a good passing move between Feargus Brown, Pratt and Ben Young, while the latter also dived over the whitewash for a well deserved try.

The most improved award went to Henry Grice-Holt for good all-round display in defence and with ball in hand.

Harvey Watson was awarded coaches’ man of the match for an action-packed display.

Superb defence helped New Earswick U12s win 14-0 at strong Huddersfield side Meltham.

The deadlock was finally broken when Ritesh Gurung broke the line out wide to open the scoring for the All Blacks.

There was no further scoring in the first half and the All Blacks proved too strong for Meltham after the break.

The ball travelled through hands confidently and a string of passes found the pacy Oli Zuiderwijk, who stormed over the try line.

Seven minutes from the end another line break from Gurung saw him shoot through and cross for his second try.

Sam Briggs kicked one goal from three attemps.

Gurung was the opposition’s player of the match, while most improved went to Frank Strange.

Captain Dan Cannon was player of the match and top tackler, and shared the magic moment with Zan Andrijanovs.

The ever improving Lewis Young took parents’ player accolade.
