FORMER rugby England international Mike Catt gave a coaching masterclass to rugby students in York when he visited Manor CE Academy, writes Josh Luckhurst.

Catt, who earned 75 caps and played in two World Cup finals for England; including the 2003 success in Australia, took charge of a Year 7 games lesson.

Nick Turnbull, Manor’s director of learning in physical education, said: “Not that many of the students had heard of Mike Catt when we announced his visit, but they respect his achievements and he had that aura that all international class athletes have.

“It’s fantastic to welcome a top international coach – someone who has played at the highest level in the game – with some invaluable experience to pass on. He’s a real inspiration.”

The England attacking skills coach took part in a question and answer session after the lesson.
