HEWORTH ARLC Under-8s have underlined their growing prowess – by overcoming visitors Hunslet Warriors with a superb display in a pulsating match.

Lucas Burden – the top tackler and opposition’s choice of man of the match – was outstanding, scoring five tries for the second week running, the last being the match-winner in the closing stages.

The team’s defensive display was also excellent – capped by a big late effort that secured victory, holding out on their own line.

The Villagers had impressive performances all over the park. George Bradley-Consett and Keane Brough took the parents’ and coaches’ man-of-the-match accolades respectively, scoring braces and tackling well.

The most improved players were Blake Patterson, Liam Foster and Harvey Watson, who also scored, as did Ellis Cochrane, while Kian Ogilvie won the golden moment award with a scintillating long-range try.
