RALPH Butterfield tasted glory at the fourth attempt in the St Olave's primary school football tournament.

Pupils from Ralph Butterfield beat Lakeside 1-0 in the final having been the bridesmaids for the last three years, losing in two finals and one semi-final.

Organiser Gareth Sharp said: “It was yet another fantastic day of football.

"There were some excellent skills were on display, with more than 120 boys taking part in the event, which is now in its seventh year.

"We always enjoy hosting this tournament and really appreciate the support we get from the local schools involved.

"All of the boys relish the chance to show off their skills and are great ambassadors for their schools."

York schools taking part were Dunnington, Tockwith, Minster, Ralph Butterfield, Clifton Green, Lakeside, Clifton with Rawcliffe, Bootham and Poppleton Road, while hosts St Olave's entered three teams.
