HEWORTH goalkeeper Jordan Myers proved the hero of the hour and more to help seal the York and District Minor League Under-14s Cup conquest over Tockwith.
Heworth had a lot of possession with good chances spurned in the first half by Will Hartley and Ugnius Urbanivicious.
In the second half, Tockwith launched several promising raids, but the Heworth back four of Will Haigh, Ben Brown, Rhys Turbine and Lewis Stephenson held firm.
Brandon Ward and Bradley Burley came close in the last ten minutes, but the tie went into a penalty shoot-out. That’s when man of the match Myers took centre stage, saving three penalties to underpin a 3-1 win.
Said coach Nick Myers: “The lads thoroughly deserved to win this competition especially after the semi-final win over the all -conquering York Cubs.”
