YORK Schoolboy Under-11s’ unstoppable predator Josh Hall plundered four goals in a 7-1 mauling of hosts Barnsley.

Bankole Claudius-Cole, Declan Simpson and debutant Oliver Blackwell also netted for the visitors.

There were early opportunities for Claudius-Cole, Luke Jones and Jimmy Gore, while man-ofthe- match Nathan Storr also pulled off a fine save to keep York on level terms.

But, with Gore and Jones controlling the midfield and the back three of Liam White, Tom Eaton and Alfie Evans standing firm, it only took 12 minutes for the breakthrough with Claudius-Cole raiding down the right and setting up Hall for his first goal.

The Minstermites doubled their lead on 16 minutes when Simpson cut in from the left after a great run and hit a stunning shot that was only palmed away as far as Claudius-Cole, who converted routinely.

In the dying minutes of the first period, an over-hit long pass from Eaton then almost caught the Barnsley keeper out, as he took two attempts to prevent the bouncing ball from crossing his line.

Within a minute of the second period, another great run down the left from Simpson teed up a second goal for Hall.

Barnsley attacks, meanwhile, were being kept to a minimum through the tireless work-rate of midfielders Gore and Elliot Oliver, who was winning the ball and feeding Alex Kemp down the right.

Midway through the second period, Simpson won the ball in the penalty area and showed neat close control to round two defenders before calmly finishing to make the score 4-0.

The home side claimed a consolation on the counter attack shortly afterwards but, with minutes left in the second period, Hall fired in a beautifullyweighted free kick which was met by a great header at the far post by Blackwell.

Early in the third period, Storr made two good saves while White, now playing sweeper, was mopping up other Barnsley forages.

A quickly-taken short corner by Oliver went on to see Kemp pull the ball back for Hall, who hit a stunning shot into the roof of the net to complete his hat-trick in style.

Hall then ran through the home defence and completed the scoring with a low drive.

There was still time, though, for a great reflex save by Storr, who put in another faultless display.

The game was watched by injured York striker Will Jarvis who, because of a fractured leg, is missing the end of a season in which he has hit eight hat-tricks and bagged more than 50 goals.
