The Hunters York & District Senior League ends this Saturday with the final round of games. Woodhouse Grange are congratulated on winning the title for the fourth successive season.

The following Saturday, 20th September, will be a good way for cricket lovers to close the season when Sheriff Hutton Bridge entertain the Yorkshire Academy at their Moor Farm ground. The Academy have just ended York’s domination of the ECB County Premier League by winning the title and will be bringing a strong side to meet the Bridge who will be either second or third in the Hunters York League.

This Annual match was originally played in memory of Phil Fisher whose three sons are all talented members of the Bridge squad with Adam skippering the first XI and Mark opening the bowling for the side. Mark recently won the Yorkshire Club Fast Bowler contest at Headingley. Youngest brother Matthew has played regularly for England Under 19s and Yorkshire Academy as well as being a regular member of the County club’s 2nd XI for which he was recently awarded his cap.

The game, which starts at noon, will be used to raise funds for York Against Cancer and will, hopefully, attract a good crowd.
