A HAT-TRICK of York & District Junior Cricket Association Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Championship final wins has been pouched by York Under-13s.

The Clifton Parkers beat Dunnington by five wickets in the delayed final at Bolton Percy to add the league title to their earlier Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Knockout Cup triumph.

Dunnington won the toss and chose to bat, but struggled in the first half of their innings against a quartet of accurate York bowlers in Matthew Scurry (1-11), Tom Wood, Cameron Hall (1-6) and skipper Sam Wordsworth, leaving them at 26-2.

In the second half, they progressed to 67-5 with runs from Harry Griffiths (22) and Harry Paver (11), while there were wickets for Sam Backhouse (1-3), Harvey Gration (1-2) and Callum Brown (1-15).

Dunnington got stuck in after the interval and after five overs they had York in trouble at 21-5.

Harry Claxton took 3-9 in his first three overs and Harrison Mussel 1-12 in his first two.

It needed some level-headed batting from two of York’s younger players to see them home, with Backhouse making 23 not out and Gration 13 not out.

The umpires were Paul Wilkinson and Ian Roberts, from the York Umpires Association.

On behalf of the sponsors Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire, the trophies were presented by Paul Wilkinson, chairman of the York & District Junior Cricket Association.
