CRICKET starlet Ellie Chipps has helped Yorkshire lift the Girls' Under-15s County Cup title - seeing off old foes Lancashire along the way.
Chipps, 15, a Fulford School pupil from Dunnington, was in the Tykes team that beat Gloucestershire by 75 runs in the final at Lullington, Derbyshire.
The young Tykes posted 160-7 from their 40 overs and the reply never got going as Gloucestershire limped to 35-6 before eventually being bowled out for 92 in just 25 overs.
Yorkshire had beaten Warwickshire in the semi-finals, having previously won through their north region group which featured a Lancashire side that had won the title two years ago at U13s level.
Chipps plays cricket for her school and also for Dunnington U15s, usually as a wicketkeeper-batsman and occasional bowler, although in the county final she played in the outfield.
