OVINGTON overcame Bolton Percy by 13 runs in zone ‘A’ of the York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-9s Championship.

Ovington were aided by an innings of 11 not out from Edward Barrett and figures of 0-4 from Oliver Howe.

Thomas Wood hit 30 and took 1-10 and James Hickey 20 and 1-13 as second-placed Acomb ‘A’ overcame neighbours Clifton Alliance. Danny Pye took 1-6 for Acomb.

The Alliance response was led by Toby Baker, with 26 and 1-0, and Matthew Dawes, with 20.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge notched a 30-run win at Heworth ‘B’. Heworth’s Bobby Mortimer made ten and Drew Patel took 1-5, with Joseph Smith taking 1-8.

Zone ‘B’ leaders Londesborough Park won at Heworth ‘A’. Ollie Rook was in the runs, with 27, supported by 28 and 1-0 from Tom Dickinson, 11 from Tom Williamson and 1-12 from Masie Spruyt.

In a win against second-placed Stamford Bridge, Rook hit 41 not out, with Dickinson hitting 48 not out and Williamson 15. George Pye took 2-8 as Park held the Bridge batsmen despite 12 not out from Fenton Griffiths, 14 not out from Ben Hields and 12 not out from Thomas Holmes.

Stamford Bridge overcame Osbaldwick by 16 runs with William Leonard hitting 18 not out and taking 1-8, Ben Anderson 17, Holmes 25, Ellie Easton 1-8 and Griffiths 1-4. For Osbaldwick, Jacob Bulmer made 26 and took 1-10, Joseph Hall 12 not out and 2-11, and Alexandra Hall 1-5.

Malton & Old Malton beat Dunnington ‘A’ to move into third place.

In zone ‘C’ of the U9s Development League, leaders Wheldrake had their batsmen in top form in an easy win over Ovington. Oliver Lambert hit 34 not out, Joe Plevey 29 not out, Matt Wills 23 not out and Benji Goulding 18 not out. Emily Goodman took 2-6, Matt Wills 2-5 and Benji Goulding 2-11. Ovington’s Lucas Oxley made 12 and Joshua Blower took 1-15.

Wheldrake’s latest win was at home against Clifton Alliance with runs from O Swift (19no) and Wills (16no), who took 2-4, and Joe Pleavley (1-5). For Alliance, Matthew Ficco took 1-12.

York batsmen Alfie Palmer, George Burton and Jamie Talago all scored 11 not out in their win over Acomb Girls. Talago took 1-10.

Dunnington ‘B’ beat Bolton Percy Girls and Acomb ‘C’ Girls.

In zone ‘D’, York ‘B’ had a big win at Ovington ‘C’, helped by Ben Moore (29 and 2-5), Burton (25), Talago (21), Aiden Doeg (1-8), Palmer (2-6) and Billy Irwin (2-4). Ovington’s Alex How took 1-18.

Pocklington made leaders York ‘B’ work hard for a win. Harrision Harrand made 24 not out for York, with Ralph Schofield taking 1-7. Harry Scrowston hit 19 not out for Pock and Jake Sissons took 2-3.

Will Jones hit 19 not out and took 3-0, Archie Wilcock 17 not out and 2-6, and Flynn Sangwin 16 not out as Yapham had a good first win of the season against Acomb ‘D’.
