LONDESBOROUGH Park defeated Heworth in their third Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13s Cup final in successive season.

Londesborough won the toss and elected to bat at Woodhouse Grange in what promised to be a tense affair.

Park were indebted to openers Jake Hemsworth (30 retired) and Tommy Hudson (23), who struck more than half of their tally in their 51-run partnership.

Heworth subsequently fought back to reduce Park to 64-5, with Luke Huffer and Zak Moorcroft, taking 2-7 and 2-14 respectively.

Due to some late order hitting from Ciaran Brooke (11no) and some lax fielding, Park reached 95-7 at the close of their innings.

Heworth, in response, started slowly but had reached 19 without loss before they proceeded to collapse to 28-5.

There was some excellent bowling from Sam Wake, who finished with figures of 3-12, and Ciaran Brooke, who took 2-12 from his four overs.

Despite a gallant 25 from Ryan Whitley and late help from Zak Moorcroft, who hit ten, and Tommy Pearson, with seven not out, the target never looked in danger.

Heworth eventually finished up all out for 79 in the 19th over, with Kieran Wilde taking a well-deserved 2-26.

The trophy and medals were presented by John Calder, of competition sponsors Hirepoint Plant and
Tool Hire.
