NORTH Duffield took the points in their derby tussle with Hemingbrough in zone ‘B’ of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-11s Development League, writes Toby Latham.

Joe Britain top-scored for hosts North Duffield with 17 not out and Josh Dickinson made a fluent 15 not out.

Some economical bowling from Britain and Harvey Johnson, who both ended with figures of 0-4, and Dickinson who finished with figures of 1-5, helped to contain the Hemingbrough reply.

Despite being defeated, Hemingbrough bowled exceptionally well with Tom McDonald, who took 1-8, and Tom Swift, with 1-5, the pick of the bowlers.

Duffield however, did not fare so well in their next game against Londesborough Park.

The Park bowling attack, led by W Jackson (3-6) and S East (1-7), tied down the Duffield batsmen to the extent that not one player reached double figures.

Although nearly half of the allotted overs went for only 28 runs due to some tidy bowling by Harvey Johnson (0-11), Joe Britain (0-11) and S Ainley (1-6), H Cartwright and T Weston both made nine not out.

In zone ‘A’, bowlers rather than batsmen dominated Ovington’s win against Malton & Old Malton.

Jacob Lamb (1-7), Isaac Burland (1-5) and Anton Marsh (1-5) all contributed tight bowling performances.

Tim Burgess and Finn Baqai were the only two players in the match to make it into double figures, scoring 13 not out and 10 not out respectively.

In response, Malton’s J Judge took 4-7 and J Mann 2-3 in two spectacular bowling displays.

The final of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 Hardball Cup will be between Acomb and Sheriff Hutton Bridge at Londesborough Park.
