BOWLER Rebecca Ainley proved key to zone ‘A’ front-runners Woodhouse Grange toppling Bolton Percy in the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13 Championship.

Batting first, Grange totalled 87-6 with James Hattee making 30 not out while Jack Petkus took 2-15.

In reply, Petkus hit 17 supported by Duncan Robertson’s 16, but 3-7 from Rebecca Ainley and Dan Robertson’s 2-9 led Grange to victory by 24 runs.

Charley Buckley and William Ellis – both 30no – and Charlie Power’s 15, underscored Ovington’s six-wicket success over Acomb ‘A’. For Acomb, Jamie Thornton also struck an undefeated 30.

Heworth remain unbeaten having recorded two 25-run victories in zone ‘B’.

Against Clifton Alliance, Edward Rymer (30no), Ryan Whitley (19), Zak Moorcroft (3-3) and Paddy Slade (2-10) all starred. For Alliance, Owen Marshall made 17, Joe Kilvington 19 and Jack Mayfield took 2-17.

Rymer also made 30no in the win over Malton & Old Malton. He was supported by D Davison’s 30no in a total of 122-6.

Malton’s 97-6 reply was led by Josh Berry, who made 35no and L Scott’s 18.

Close pursuers Londesborough Park had a fine win over Acomb ‘B’. Batting first, they posted a substantial 148-6 thanks to Lucas Stephenson (35no) and Jake Hemsworth (24) with Robin Smith taking 2-14 and Joe Hickey 2-11. For Acomb, Cian Stancliffe top-scored on 12.

Bowlers were on top in Pocklington’s low-scoring win over Osbaldwick, who fell for 46 with Tom Scrowston notching 2-6. In the reply of 48-5, O Jacques made 22no, but K Bidgood (3-5) and Alfie Oliver (2-19) made life difficult.

Gilberdyke hit 69-4, then limited Stamford Bridge to 45-8 to take them through to a home tie in the U13 Plate semi-final against York or Woodhouse Grange.
