MANOR School are the new British under-13s schools’ mixed gymnastics champions.

The high-fliers, who won the Yorkshire regional finals in March, took to the range of disciplines at Stoke and achieved their best ever score of 72.4 to lift the prized crown and become the first British winners from Yorkshire.

And the success story was all the more remarkable as this was the first time Manor had entered the competition.

The team – comprising two boys and four girls – had to perform a floor and vault routine with the best four scores on each added together to create the team score out of 80 points.

Said coach/teacher Emily McGrath: “Beating the other teams by four clear points, which is such a large margin in the gymnastics world, was such an achievement.”
