BOOTHAM ‘A’ were the junior winners when Energise hosted York’s first lifesaving competition in 20 years.
Josh Croxon, Matt Hays, Emily Croxon and Eleanor Long joined forces to lift the junior crown at the Acomb venue in the event backed by First Rescue Training and Supplies.
Bootham ‘A’ took the gold medals and trophy ahead of silver medallists Ebor and a York City Baths Club team which took bronze.
A total of nine senior and junior teams took part in the competition.
The contest started with a simulated incident, which included five casualties in the water and a bystander, to put the lifesaving team under pressure while they assess the situation and use their skills to rescue all casualties.
The next six events were related to speed, testing skill levels under the pressure of the stopwatch.
The senior event was won by Energise, with Ebor Lifesaving Club second and Yearsley Pool third.
