YOUNGSTERS from Tadcaster Swim Squad scooped nine trophies at the Stocksbridge Pentaqua Sprints gala.

Tadcaster sent a squad of 18 swimmers, aged between ten and 14, to the gala held near Sheffield.

They won two events and took second in another two, while also claiming five third place finishes and six medals for finishing between fourth and sixth place in a final.

Kiri Armstrong, aged 12, of Appleton Roebuck, won three trophies, including one for first place.

Osgodby’s Nicole Grenier, ten, won two trophies, including a first place, and bagged two medals. Jonathon White, 12, of Tadcaster, won four trophies and achieved three personal bests.

Tadcaster’s James Alldridge, 12, swam two events, registering two personal bests and winning two medals.

The other medal winner was Ulleskelf’s Sam Morfitt, 13, who also clocked a personal best.

The club’s other swimmers were: Hattie Barton, ten, of Tadcaster, four swims, three personal bests; Joe Barton, 13, of Tadcaster, three swims, two PBs; Charlotte Black, ten, of Garforth, three swims, one PB; Lucy Dobson, 11, of Garforth, three swims, two PBs; Charlotte Dobson, 13, of Garforth, four swims, two PBs; Oliver Duxbury, 14, of South Milford, four swims, three PBs; Emma Hargrave, 13, of Tadcaster, four swims, one PB; Alex Heard, ten, of Stutton, two swims, two PBs; Ellie Heard, 11, of Stutton, two swims, one PB; Nicole Hurst, 13, of Copmanthorpe, two swims, one PB; Adam Jewitt, 11, of Tadcaster, two swims, one PB; Matthew Jewitt, 12, of Tadcaster, three swims, one PB; Lily Walker, 11, of Newton Kyme, two swims, two PBs.

The squad are next in gala action in Scarborough next month.
