THE Yorkshire Youth League season ended on a bizarre note for City of York Hockey Club under-16 girls ‘A’ and ‘B’.

The two sides turned up at Darton High School expecting to take on Wakefield ‘A’ and Slazengers, but both sides failed to show.

That left the two City of York teams to play each other, with the ‘A’ team triumphing 3-0.

The ‘A’ team took early control and were soon 1-0 up with a well-struck short corner from Lauren Boddison.

York ‘B’ were solid in defence, with Felicity Punnett and Izzy Taylor playing well throughout.

However, York ‘A’ continued to press and spent long periods of the game in and around the ‘D’.

Sian King scored the second goal, taking the ball around the grounded ’keeper following a good save from Charlotte MacDermottroe’s original strike.

As the ‘A’ team piled on even more pressure, the game was wrapped up with another goal from Boddison, who weaved her way through the defence and shot from the top of the ‘D’.
