City of York Hockey Club Under-14 girls’ ‘A’-team won all their games at Brigshaw High School. for a storming start to the season.

York toppled Northallerton 5-0 in a performance where the passing was crisp and effective before they then saw off Sheffield 1-0.

In a tougher affair, York’s astute positioning and sharp movement provided the platform for victory.

The goals from both games were shared between Hannah Yoward and Ellie Martin, while Laura Woosey did not have much to do in goal.

The U14 girls’ ‘B’ team played at Ben Rhydding and found it very hard.

They lost 5-0 to a strong Wakefield ‘A’ team before being just shaded in a more even contest against Ben Rhydding ‘B’ before falling to a late strike.

Maddy Onyett was strong in defence and Rachel Simpson fought hard in midfield, while Hannah Brown made some strong runs up front.

In the last match they lost 6-0 to Harrogate.
