BOUNCE-BACK qualities were sharply illustrated by York Schoolboys under-13s footballers.

In their first game since a narrow defeat to Sheffield before the Easter break, the York teens staged a superb revival against East Riding coming back from 2-0 down to triumph 4-2.

By 20 minutes of the start, York trailed to a brace of goals, the first a header, the second a shot after a series of missed tackles.

The big physical presence of the East Riding players controlled midfield, while York were second to the ball in all areas of the pitch.

However, York accepted a lifeline when, on the stroke of half-time, Danny Allinson won the ball in midfield to tease in Rob Guilfoyle, who scored with a left-foot shot.

York’s change to 4-5-1 in the second half wrested midfield authority and the East Riding goalkeeper leapt to deny efforts from Charlie Ward and Dom Jackson following neat approach play from Lucas Wilson and Charlie Jebson King.

East Riding were limited to rare forays, which the rearguard of Charlie Buckle, James Hanson, Jamie Higginbotham and Will Anderson dealt with comfortably.

With ten minutes left, York won a 50-50 challenge for a Joe Crosby pass to enable Jebson King to fire across the keeper and into the bottom of the net.

Five minutes later they took the lead in similar fashion, Guilfoyle finding Jebson King running in from the left hand side to strike home a first-time shot.

Following the kick off, East Riding rallied and created their best chance of the half only to see Nick Hutton make a last-ditch goal-line clearance.

York finally secured the win after a quick break from defence saw Crosby set up Manni De Nobriga to race through and calmly slot home and keep alive aspirations of title success.
