THE Active York Sports Awards dinner will be held at the University of York next Saturday - and the Team/ Club Award is poised to be hotly contested.

The awards are being organised by Active York - the city’s sport and active leisure partnership working to encourage people to be more active more often - and backed by The Press.

The three contenders for the top Team/Club gong are City of York Athletic Club’s hugely successful cross country team, the all-conquering junior section at York Cricket Club and York St John University’s women’s rugby union team, who have hit top form in recent times.

The Team/Club Award is one of several which will be handed out at the dinner. The leading nominees in each category have been invited to attend the Active York Sports Awards dinner.

The dinner is open to the public and tickets are priced at £40 per person, or £300 for a table of eight, which includes a pre-dinner drinks reception, a three-course meal and entry to the awards ceremony.
