YORK City Baths Club captured the Top Club Trophy ahead of 15 other clubs at the Beverley Barracuda’s Sprint A/B meet.

No fewer than 38 of 42 YCBC swimmers landed medals or speeding tickets and heading the York team’s plunder were four swimmers who took top boy or girl in their age groups Samuel Pickup secured two ‘A’ and one ‘B’ grade gold medals and four ‘A’ grade silver medals from seven events to lift the top 11-year-old boy trophy.

Stafford Swainston, 14, received an ‘A’ and ‘B’ grade gold, an ‘A’ and three ‘B’ grade silvers, a ‘B’ grade bronze and a speeding ticket on his way to top boy honours.

Both Georgina Rooke and Bethan Morris, maintained 100 per cent personal best (PB) performances to lift their respective 11-year-old and 13-year-old top girl trophies.

Rooke gained two ‘B’ grade golds, two ‘A’ grade silvers and a fifth place ‘A’ grade medal, while Morris attained two ‘B’ golds, two ‘B’ silvers and a ‘B’ grade bronze.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Mollie-Jo Garratt medalled in six out of eight events, including two golds and a speeding ticket; 11-year-old Ben Gibbs medalled in all seven of his events; Daisy Jackson, also 11, earned a speeding ticket and six medals from seven events; and Aiden Reilly scooped five medals from seven swims, with each of them narrowly missing top honours by finishing runners-up in their age groups.

Personal bests were also recorded by Elizabeth Blake (three out of three); Amy Durrant (5/5); Lucy Jordan (5/5); Charlie Peach (4/4); Leah Pinder (6/6) and Isabella Spenceley (3/3), while Joshua Mould posted four out of four newly-registered times (NTs) and Oona Gregory (two PBS and one NT) on their first graded meet debuts.
