OLYMPIC hockey star Jo Ellis gave a masterclass to youngsters from City of York Hockey Club’s under-10s girls team.

Ellis, who played for Great Britain at the Beijing games, attended a training session at Huntington School’s all-weather pitches.

The hockey coach at York’s Mount School gave the girls one-on-one coaching and joined them in a short game.

A spokesman said: “The girls were delighted, particularly when she stayed afterwards for selfies and to sign their sticks.”

City of York’s U10s have had a successful season in the Yorkshire Youth Hockey League, while also reaching the Yorkshire final of the In-2-Hockey tournament.
