A HAT-TRICK from striker Joe Crosby propelled unbeaten York Schoolboys Under-13s to a 7-0 league victory at Barnsley.

York took the lead on ten minutes against the run of play when a free-kick from Danny Allinson found the top corner of the Barnsley net.

The visitors soon made it 2-0 when Crosby shot from the corner of the area and it was 3-0 just before half-time after midfielder Charlie Ward ran at the defence and dispatched his shot into the bottom corner.

Rob Guilfoyle broke the Barnsley offside trap to calmly slot the ball past the keeper and the fifth goal was created when Nick Hutton’s accurate pass found Crosby. He beat his maker to set up Manni De Nobriga to score with a first-time strike.

A mix-up in the Barnsley defence allowed Crosby to slot the ball into an empty net from 15 yards and then De Nobriga sent Crosby through to complete his hat-trick.

York U12s were 2-1 victors at Spen Valley in their penultimate league game of the season.

York broke the deadlock in the closing minutes of the first period. Liam White found Harvey Stephenson and he took on two Spen Valley players before releasing Connor Teale to coolly finish.

Midway through the second period, Spen Valley pressured the York goal and a mix-up in defence saw a sliced clearance sail over the York keeper and into the net.

Pressure from Teale led to a poor back pass by a Spen Valley defender and Teale was held back by the keeper.

A penalty was awarded and Teale stepped up to net the winner from the spot.

In the third period, stout defending from Simeon Hopkinson ensured keeper Nathan Storr was untroubled.

Harvey Stephenson was York's man of the match.

York U11s held Barnsley to a 1-1 draw.

The Minster city boys led 1-0 at half-time when striker Oliver Walsh pounced on a loose goal kick to head down into the path of Elliot Heath and he netted from 18 yards.

York continued to dominate in the second half, but they paid the price for failing to kill off the game as, even though keeper Todd Edgar saved brilliantly from a powerful free-kick, he was penalised for a clumsy foul and Barnsley scored from the spot.

Taylor Bell was York’s man of the match.
