COULD Harry Watkinson be on the path to Yorkshire success?

The 11-year-old Acomb all-rounder will join 20 of the best young cricketers in Yorkshire at the Headingley club after being invited to attend the county's Pathways winter cricket coaching scheme.

The Our Lady Queen of Martyrs schoolboy has represented Acomb at U11, U13 and U15 level, has captained York Taverners U11s side and plays for North Yorkshire U10 and U11s as well as Yorkshire 'A' U10s.

Watkinson hit 550 runs and two half centuries for the North Yorkshire U11s last season and also claimed 40 wickets during the campaign with his fast bowling.

Now he will receive elite coaching with the best of his age group.

Watkinson's dad Lee said: "The family are extremely proud of Harry's achievements this year. The season has been both physically and mentally tough and has seen him play around 40 games in 14 weeks.

"For a ten-year-old boy he has shown great maturity and discipline."

Watkinson's brother, Daniel, played for North Yorkshire U13s last year while sister Lucy, nine, has been invited to train with the North Yorkshire U11s squad this year.
