YORK City Foundation will be holding elite trials at Canon Lee and Selby High schools during the February half-term holidays.

The trials will be staged at Canon Lee in Clifton, York, on Tuesday, February 17 for under-sevens, U8s and U9s from 4pm to 5pm and for U10s, U11s and U12s from 5pm to 6pm.

Selby High will host U7s, U8s and U9s from 5pm to 6pm and U10s, U11s and U12s from 6pm to 7pm on Thursday, February 19.

Successful players will then win a place in the club’s elite centre, which aims to bridge the gap between grassroots football and the club’s academy.

Over the course of the last two seasons, 27 players have gone on to earn contracts with the Minstermen’s academy after attending weekly elite centre training sessions.

Players must wear suitable clothing and trainers during both trials with football boots not allowed at either venue.

Each trial costs £5 per child and all those that attend will receive an email detailing their next recommended step.

To book places, parents can send a cheque, made payable to York City Football Club Foundation, to YCFC Foundation, Bootham Crescent, York, YO30 7AQ and enclose the player’s name, date of birth, address, current team, position, contact number and email address, as well as the name of the football team’s manager and a contact number.

Alternatively, confirmation of attendance can be emailed to cityelite.ycfc@live.co.uk and payment made on the day of the trial.
