YORK Schoolboy under 12s enjoyed their first league win of the season after braces from Declan Racher and Will Jarvis helped see off Nottingham 5-0.

Bankole Claudius-Cole was also on target in a one-sided contest as York recovered well from losing their first two league games and a seven-week lay-off.

York’s midfield quartet of Elliot Oliver, Liam White, Racher and man-of-the-match Harvey Stephenson controlled that area of the pitch from the start.

Racher forced the first save of the match and, moments later, he opened the scoring on seven minutes, collecting a low cross from Stephenson before dribbling past a defender and the Nottingham keeper to calmly slot the ball into the net.

At the other end, Luke Jones snuffed out a dangerous attack, while his fellow defenders Tom Eaton and Alfie Evans also helped push the team high up the park to support the midfield.

Further shots on target followed from Oliver, Jones and Racher before the lead was doubled during the last minute of the first period.

Oliver’s stunning shot was tipped on to the underside of the crossbar with Jarvis the quickest to react to the rebound.

In the second period, debutant Connor Teal and Claudius-Cole both posed threats on the flanks and keeper Nathan Storr was equal to Nottingham’s first shot on goal in the 23rd minute.

Debutant Leo Potts, Jarvis and Racher, meanwhile, were all denied for York and Jones also went close as the second period ended goal-less.

At the start of the third period, the Minstermites’ back three of Simeon Hopkinson, Evans and White repelled Nottingham’s attacks and, on 47 minutes, Jarvis charged down the right flank, beat his full back and sent in a low cross that was converted neatly at the back post by Claudius-Cole.

Four minutes later, Stephenson played in Jarvis for another cool finish and the latter turned provide during the closing stages as Racher got back on the scoresheet.

York Schoolboy U11s remain undefeated in the league, meanwhile, after kicking off 2015 by beating Nottingham 4-1 at home with Will Hollings, man-of-the-match Oliver Kilvinton, Myles Jackson and Elliot Heath all on target.

After early half-chances fell to Harry Tinker and Heath, defender Hollings opened the scoring when he glanced a Jackson free kick past the visiting keeper with five minutes of the first period remaining.

In the second half, a long defensive clearance caught York napping and the Nottingham striker equalised with a well-measured lob.

But the hosts forged ahead again with 13 minutes remaining as Kilvinton blasted in from eight yards after Nottingham had failed to deal with another Jackson free kick.

Jackson then converted a penalty after George Turbine had been tripped and, right at the death, Heath added a flattering fourth goal from six yards after pouncing on a defensive error.
