HOLDERS Thorpe United booked their place in the final of the Barkston Ash FA Under-16s Cup with a thrilling 3-2 extra time win over Collingham.

The sides were level at 1-1 after normal time and the home side came out on top in extra time.

After a goalless first half, the game came to life in the second half and it was Collingham who hit the front, cutting through Thorpe before finishing in style.

Thorpe pressure eventually told when a James Arnold long throw was met by Corey Littlefield and he found the back of the net with a well-placed header.

The first period of extra time was a cagey affair with Thorpe man of the match Matthew Webster ensuring his side maintain their concentration.

In the second period of extra time, Collingham failed to deal with Richard Buckthorpe’s long throw. The ball was pushed onto the bar by the keeper before Jordan Emery bundled it over the line.

Thorpe scored their third following some good set-up play from Littlefield and Arnold, with Buckthorpe finding Szymon Czubik in space and the striker making no mistake in notching his first goal for the club.

Collingham got back into the match with a fine finish from a corner, the initial ball cleared by a towering Matthew Webster header but the follow-up gave Alex Ward no chance.

In the final, Thorpe will face the winner of the delayed tie between either Garforth Villa 'A' or Garforth Rangers 'B' and Tadcaster Albion 'B'.
