FREE-SCORING Woodthorpe Wanderers prevailed in a teeter-tottering tussle against Kirkbymoorside in the York Minor League under-15s second division.
Hosts Woodthorpe triumphed 6-5 but they were only ever one goal ahead as time and time again Kirkbymoorside replied.
The 11-goal thriller was Woodthorpe's sixth win out of eight league games and, with as many as four matches in hand over several clubs above them, could still push for the title.
The club are already through to the semi-final of the York FA Intermediate (Senior U15s) Cup where they will host Heworth on Match 1.

Jordan Cook was the breakthrough boss for Woodthorpe against Kirkbymoorside.
He bagged both goals with the rest of the home plunder shared between Liam Sidebottom, Jack Stokell after a goalmouth meleé, Joe Stubbs, Cameron Fullerton, who seized on a pass from Stokell and, finally, Tom Langan, who took a high ball down on his chest and finished crisply to seal the pulsating victory.
